Also, I'd like to thank deko/NDR. Not only for the smooth-as-usual organisation, but also for keeping such a classic race alive. Especially one requiring such heavy workload. With 7 years, it's probably the oldest stand-alone event still in activity on LFS, and a very special and original one at that too. And it's still going strong - I believe we had a full grid, bar maybe one or two cars, every single time.

Frustrating race. Right front kept overheating, causing big push at T3. Spent pretty much the whole race fighting with that. Also had trouble getting any clean bumpdrafting, people kept bouncing off my car for some reason, don't know if it was lag or if I was doing anything wrong. Last caution was a golden opportunity, given that I was the third to last car on the lead lap, and finally with cool tyres, but no restart, oh well.

I guess P14 isn't THAT bad given the circumstances, but given that I had finished three times in the top 10s in the three Kyoto 250 I had finished, without much hassle, it's a bit of a let down. On to the 2015 running, hopefully...

Track banking info is actually pretty interesting, thanks. Kinda explains why the high line is the best at T3.

KY1 is a really funny oval, with all the different banking inclination/progression.

Quote from Eclipsed :

Anyway - why there is a list of drivers, who led the most laps and didn't win,but no list of winners? I thought it's kinda more important thing.

2008: Ben "DeadWolfBones" Keough
2009: Phil "PMD9409" Diaz
2010: Phil "PMD9409" Diaz
2011: Phil "PMD9409" Diaz
2012: Robin "Robendo" Friskopps
2013: Jarl "arox123" Teien

Quote from Eclipsed :I saw some pretty confusing texts in remote about qualifying in race. Well,it is actually pretty simple, since we have 31 drivers for 30 positions. Practiacally it is like that - 63 (last place in q) is out of the race, unless he finishes in top 11 in his twin. If he does get in top11,then the same rule applies to next driver from bottom (91) and so on.

It's no rocket science!

Historically we usually had at least a couple of non-shows in the main race, so the 31st guy might still be able to take part in the race tomorrow if he shows up.

Very cool onboard cam with Simon Pagenaud: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdJ5nHSwZrc

Probably a tougher course than it might look at first. I'm almost surprised we don't have more crashes, since almost 2 hours of this(including cautions, granted) at full grunt must take quite a toll on the drivers(no power steering mind you).

Quote from Knight_Atack :Yeah, the double headers. Any reason other than helping the markets and giving out more points? Having more races in the same number of weekends? First time I notice this.

I believe it first started as a way for IndyCar to meet the IZOD contract obligation of having 18(IIRC?) races by season. At that time(late 2012) IZOD was already looking for a way out, so IndyCar couldn't afford to disrespect the contract if they wanted to keep the IZOD-bucks for one more year. But then the race promoters liked it. It gave them a much better value for money(I believe I've read somewhere that they get a double-header round for only 10% more money than a single-header), so it has stayed for 2014, even with IZOD gone. Of course, understandably it's not super popular with the teams and drivers, but that's another story.

Onboard with Josef at Barber.

Very impressive footage, you really get to see how fast this place is, despite the non-stop turns and huge elevation changes. Something you do not always realise from the outside shots. Very underrated track IMO.

Racing full-time in Stock Car Brasil in 2014.

Teaming-up with Enrique Bernoldi in the first round at Interlagos(special 50 minutes race with a similar format to what we have in the endurance races in V8 Supercars currently. Regular full-season drivers teaming-up with guests, who sometimes turn-out to be well known drivers from major international series).

Yellow car. WAY too late to close the door. Especially on an oval. Especially with as much as 3 and a half to go. Especially on the FZR, a car in which you get such a huge draft he probably would have passed you back half a lap later.

Don't think it's anything malicious though, probably just a lack of (oval?) experience.

Nice to hear from you again Rocky. Hope you're doing well.

Not sure what to think about the video itself. That was quite random I guess. The sheer variety of soundtracks and sound effects(aswell as the absence of any kind of transition) made it quite a surreal experience.

Laughed out loud at the last clip. I don't know what the drivers were thinking. This is the kind of wreck that goes on and on, for no apparent reason.

As senieka said, we're in 2014, it's pretty easy for virtually anyone to get his/her personal YouTube account and upload stuff by him/herself.

What about a playlist though? Makes more sense IMO. Most LFS videos ever released to the public are already uploaded to YouTube, no need to upload them a second time.

Quote from lizardfolk :That's not true anymore. BHA was recently included to get money.

Indeed. Panther didn't apply for for leader circle money, so BHA inherited a contract as they were next in line.

In other news, Jacques Villeneuve to drive in the 500 in SSM's 3rd car, according to RACER. While it's fantastic news for IndyCar, it also makes me smile sarcastically a little bit. I remember well that almost 8 years ago, Jacques said in an interview for F1Racing magasine that the only motorsport series he'd consider outside F1 was NASCAR, because it was the only move that didn't represesent a setback in his eyes. And here he is, a few years later, threading waters in so many different series at the same time, with various degrees of success.

Quote from McEscher :What about Storm Racing?

Wow, that's a blast from the past. Last time I've heard of them they had changed their name to Storm Gaming. Possibly to differentiate their tag from Sonicrealms', who knows. Don't think they're still around though, but I might be wrong.

Just remembered that the MRT is enabled on cargame.nl S1. Might be your best bet, though I'm not sure you'll find many other MRTs to race with. And sharing the track with the other (road-legal) cars might be an issue sometimes, too.

Good luck, but that's going to be one tough quest. It's one of the least used cars these days. Even on the league racing side, there haven't been many MRT events over the last few years.

Funnily enough it used to be the most popular car in the early S1 days...

Really wasn't looking forward to this at first, had kinda given up on LFS recently, was just doing this to help my good friends at SAVAGE... But then practice time comes, and I don't care when the last tyre physics update was, or how many times I've driven this track in the past, competitive spirit comes back... And you remember why you loved that stuff in the first place...

Very enjoyable race, was great to fight with LLM and CoRe for the podium, kinda frustrating to end up in 4th in the end, but they probably had the upper-hand on pace, so no regrets. Was very nice to keep-up with former team-mates and rivals also, remembering the proverbial "good old times" and so on.

I didn't find the car count to be an issue at all personally, even though we were "only" in the high-10s at the end, our car was rarely truly on its own, as the GT2 field was always rather close, and the track was quite short for a 24H event.

HUGE kudos to the organisation, all the admins have been around for a long while, yet they somehow find the motivation to come back and do a top-notch job again and again. Even though they are not paid(some are probably losing a considerable amount of money over this actually), and maybe not really receiving the credit they deserve. Let's face it, without them, the community would be in a much worse state than it currently is. They should not put a single blame on themselves for the stream and server issues, nothing about this they could control.

Also really enjoyed the stream, for the little I've watched. Dom's a great commentator, epic knowledge of all things (sim-)racing, and his wry, self-depreciating sense of humour is pretty cool too. I liked those random racing references, like the (mid-1990s) World Touring Cup name-drop coming from nowhere, who would've thought?

Overall a very enjoyable experience, thanks again to my team-mates, competitors and all the staff. If despite the interest drops there are any other endurance races in the future I'd be definitely interested.

Nice intro deko.

The track is quite short for a 24H race, and the field is quite competitive, car count shouldn't be an issue.

Quote from DeadWolfBones :Hoping to see what Luca Filippi can do with a full season.

Agreed. He was very fast at Houston, and pretty much got robbed of a well deserved podium by a caution/closed pit at the end of his second stint.

Problem is, BHA missed on the leader's circle pay-out last year, so they might have to take someone with money in order to keep going.

Aleshin has been quite an unpredictable driver in WSR, so how he'll do in a series as unpredictable as IndyCar(well, bar from the big 3 winning the championship most of the time at least), is very hard to say 2 months before the start of the season.

How newcomers react to oval racing in particular, especially when coming from outside Road to Indy, is anyone's guess.

Less than 2 months before St Pete.

Big news this year is of course Montoya returning to open wheels for Penske. Monty lost a lot of weight in a pretty short amount of time so he's not there to screw around. Will he blitzkrieg the whole field like in CART in 1999, probably not, but you can bet he'll be entertaining to watch. Team dynamic should be interesting to follow with Castroneves and Power. The 3 guys seem to get along well so far but you never know what may happen in the future.

Other storylines are Honda going to twin-turbo, Ganassi moving to Chevy and Andretti back to Honda. TK and Briscoe at Ganassi, new Rolex-owner Bourdais at KV, 2013 Indy 500 sensation Carlos Munoz full-time at Andretti, Conway part-time at ECR, and Aleshin making his IndyCar debut at SSM.

Silly season was frantic in the early days, but it has been very quiet in the last 2 months. Still a lot of drivers looking for rides.

With as many as 11 cars lined-up by the "big 3", it might be a tough year for the little guys. But count on Pagenaud for more giant killing action. Same for Justin Wilson at Coyne, though it is not sure how the team will cope after having some of its key personal poached by Rahal?

Anyone watching? Should be fun. One of the first major races of the year, free stream, a nice variety of cars, a legandary track, and a few big name drivers.

Quite a flashy livery for the Erebus Mercedes:
